This place is grand..., well, on the other hand......
Truly, I would give them 5 stars if it wasn\'t for 2 things that really bothered me. But firstly let me expand a little: Hotel Artus is close to the town of Karpacz in the south west of Poland. I got there at 7.15 pm and the friendly receptionist explained to me in German, as my polish is a bit rusty and so was her english, that all is good but I am too late for the dinner buffet, hence they, being nice and empathising Hotel staff, prepared a plate for me instead. So I did not have to fast that night afterall. When I told her that I was used from other Hotels that Dinner is at least to 8 pm available, she explained in her friendly manner, that Dinner is served between 3pm and 6pm.....
"Too early" I heard myself protesting and "why so early" followed right after? Well she said with that \'winning smile\' we have a lot of families with small children and they prefer early meals so they can take their children to bed. Well it seemed that I had just stepped 60 years back in my own childhood when we had to be in bed by 8pm.
Then I went downstairs to the Dining area to get my meal plate. It was meat balls with potatoes and various types of europaen salads which suited me coming from a German background. Then driving up to the Hotel part of the complex and find a car park. This place is full....., but found a spot and free of charge as they all are. Draging my luggage up a ramp and to the lift, one level up and around the corner my room of estimated 20 to 25 m2. It is all very clean and looks cosy. There is also a small balcony but get back inside very quickly as there are \'smokers\' on the prowl.
Then the internet wifi, it appears to work but then I notice after an hour I am logged out again. Again having to get through the Hotel Artus\'s webpage back into wifi..........
This has to be repeated every hour....\'not happy Jan\'.
The bathroom is clean and the shower is OK. Next morning walk \'the mile\' to the breakfast area which is quite large with a small \'bottleneck\' where you serve yourself. There are 2 espresso machines, wow, not bad at all and quite a large variety of breakfast foods and dishes. I am impressed and it tastes nice as well. Later in the day I try the indoor swimming pool which is of a decent size, although not really designed for lap swimmers like myself. There is also a 10 pin bowling lane or 2 and a children playground. Overall it is nice to stay here, if it wasn\'t for the wifi and early dinner I would have given them 5 stars.
